IDENTITY TRANSITIONS: The Moment I Realized I Wasn't As (______) as I Thought! [pt. 1]
Watching Woody Allen in "Scenes from a Mall" and realizing I identify more with his whiney, nasal, complaining character than I do with John Wayne (unless there's an emergency or damsels in distress!). In that movie, he's pretty full of himself and sees himself as able to bed any beauty he desires (of course he's rich so it may be true -- especially in LA) and that anyone would be lucky to have him because of his superiority to most other human beings. Bette Midler laughs in amazement at his vanity -- while I wept in recognition of how I must have occurred (occur?) to the local Springtucky Hillbillies. They must just look at my broken-ness and as they've been walking away in their flannel shirts and boots, leaving me alone to contemplate my suit-and-tie navel, they just shake their heads in disgusted disbelief as to how such a shithead can think he's so superior simply because he has a higher education and a professional license.
So, here we can fill in the blank in the title of this post with anything: Smart; Good looking; a good catch; a good friend; a good family member; blah-blah-blah;
